Mackey and other franchisees sued franchisors, Judys Foods and its parent companies, claiming fraud, breach of contract, violation of the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The district court granted summary judgment for the franchisors based on its determination that the statutes of limitations and a validly executed release signed by the franchisees and Judys Foods barred all of the claims brought by the franchisees. 654 F. Supp. 1465 (M.D. Tenn. 1987).
